Looking for motivation to get your legs pumping? Wanting to improve your running ability? Looking for a challenge or training for an event? Or just want some company on your morning runs? Our runners group is for you!
Build speed, strength, endurance and fitness and improve your overall running technique. Perfect for getting training tips and education on preventing injuries whilst enjoying the company of others.
A social running group rather than a “club” – CSSM’s runners group is suitable for all ages and all running abilities. Whether you are just starting to get into running, are training for a half or full marathon, or just enjoy taking the legs for spin, our group is for you! Run by one of our podiatrists and physiotherapists, the sessions are suitable for everyone. We are a social group who enjoy the challenge of testing our limits while catching up on everyone’s progress!
The CSSM Run Club gathers twice a week for a social run. As running ability will vary between individuals, our focus during sessions is on building running economy, speed, endurance and overall fitness. This involves interval training, tempo runs, Fartlek training and running drills. The occasional hill session will also be included! We run on footpaths, tracks and ovals. We encourage our longer endurance runners to do their longer runs on other days of the week.
Education evenings are also included to help increase your knowledge on training loads, running technique and how to avoid running injuries.
For social runners membership is FREE. We do have different levels of membership for those who wish to have different levels of involvement, each with it’s own annual membership fee. Each of these membership levels have different benefits that may be useful on your running journey. You can read about the membership levels below.
All proceeds from the Run Club memberships will be donated to the clinic’s preferred charity the Indigenous Marathon Foundation.
We meet at 6.30am Tuesdays and Friday mornings (rain or no rain). Most sessions will leave from the clinic, but if we plan to venture afield we will let you know where to meet us. Follow us on social media and Strava to keep up to date with meeting locations. Sessions will conclude around 7.15am.
Our runs are at local parks and running tracks around the Camberwell and Burwood area. Surfaces include footpaths, bike tracks, trails and ovals/grass.
Runs in most sessions will range from 5km to 8km. However, because we will be mostly using looped courses sessions can be tailored to match your fitness levels.
We welcome runners of any pace and ability – the goal is to get out there and have fun. Need to stop and have a walk? No problem!
Due to the current COVID restrictions – groups are limited to 10 participants at this time.
It is unusual to find yourself running on your own. Generally there will be someone running at your pace. Most of the sessions will be in parks with looped courses, so there is usually someone not far away. We look out for each other and are very supportive – with a leave no one behind policy.
Memberships are valid for 12 months:

Our running efforts are inspired by the work of CSSM’s preferred charity the Indigenous Marathon Foundation and their Indigenous Marathon Project. All proceeds from the Run Club’s activities will be donated in support of the IMF. Find out more about the Indigenous Marathon Foundation at their website imf.org.au.
